People have many reasons for coming to Ireland. Some come because it is a country rich in culture and heritage, the Land of Saints and Scholars. For some it is the land of their forefathers, the Emerald Isle, that they have heard about from the time they were little, sitting on their mothers knee.

For others it is a land rich in history, of struggle and rebellion, one of great beauty and tragedy or might want to come and see the town or village where your ancestors once lived, and trace their history in the tombstones. You might want to walk the Georgian streets where W B Yeats, Oscar Wilde or Bram Stoker once strolled. Or view the bullet holes in the walls of the GPO in O'Connell Street in Dublin that remain as a testament to the 1916 Rebellion. Or visit places familiar from the songs you have heard all your life : the Lakes of Killarney, the streets where Molly Malone wheeled her barrow, watch the sun go dowm on Galway Bay and find that it's not such a long way to Tipperary!
